So I have been having technical difficulties while trying to post a video of my trapeze extravaganza. If anyone knows how to make a 31M video file smaller, please let me know. Once I have figured that out, I will be posting a very good video.
Ok. So. New Years. Luckily, for the past 12 years I have not been home for New Years. I don't know what it is like to try and make plans for New Years. It's very nice. However, this still doesn't mean I don't think New Years is completely overrated.
Club Med actually does a nice job at New Year's celebrations. They have activities going all night and usually make the evening quite entertaining.
Dinner was lovely:
However, after dinner when I looked at the clock counting down and we still had 3 hours I thought, "Would anyone notice if I just went to bed right now?"
So, with three hours to burn, what did my family do? We gathered a bunch of seats together and stared at each other. Ok, wait, we stared at all the drunk people around us.
We also watched my dear sweet brothers being hit on by this chic. She was definitely wanting someone to kiss when the clock struck 12.
We continued to sit while the masses danced "the macarena". That is like so 10 years ago. And so instead of participating, I took pictures. I think the only legitimate excuse for doing that dance is if you are plowed and will not have any recollection of doing it the next day.
We took some goofy pictures to pass the time:
And once they passed out hats and whistles, it was on. I guess plastic toys that make noise are more entertaining to my family than dancing the night away.
Remind me to have Alex's obscene hand gesture photoshoped out of this picture before I have it printed.
Happy New Years!

tell me if i'm mistaken, but i seem to remember your first kiss being a club med thing...
Yes, I too remember the club med kiss story...
You look so cute in all the pictures and it reminds me that I am still jealous of your "new years trips". Does Jinny want to adopt more grandchildren?
oh and I'll post the panini recipe online. I totally remember your post about the pasta...loved it!
I can't believe you didn't join the dancing. What a boring family. Even without alcohol, my family would be all over the Macarena. 10 years ago my ass, that dance lives forever!
I agree with D. I am very disappointed you didn't do the Macarena.
Your family is like a checkerboard: red, black, red, black.
I think Diania and Miranda got it right. If I wouldn't have embarassed my family, I would have been dancing the Macarena. It was irresistable and foot tapping just doesn't do it.
Okay I am totally going to say that NEW YEARS is overrated!! I actually hate it... You are lucky that you have been gone the past 12years for it. jealous...
Alex's finger states perfectly how I feel about New Years.
natalie, i'm having trouble getting the recipe online, so essentially you smear the pesto on two slices of bread. Cut the mozeralla and tomato about 1/4 inch thick, sprinkle tomato with koser salt and layer on the bread and grill until lightly browned and chesse is melted. She recommends using good mozerella and store bought pesto. They are so easy and so yummy. I also put fresh spinach leaves in the sandwich...so good!
